Build in Wood - Kits and Plans  Great history, great reading

The
Famous Lake X Classic Raveau Wood Hull and Mercury outboard
that drove
50,000 miles non stop.

Thanks for signing our guest book.
Four boats were used for the 50,000 mile run.
Two boats ran together for 25, 000 miles.
The run was stopped and the motors were disassembled
and inspected. It was determined they could run
another 25,000 miles so they were mounted on two
new Raveaus that were 1 foot longer.
This was done to handle the rougher water that
was being encountered in the late Fall of the year.
All the boats survived well and one was later raced
in several races by Jim Hunt, another set a speed
record with a Merc 600 engine, driven
by Joe  Cash, several years later.

Best regards,
Bob Walwork
